I keep repeating that snipes do occasionally fail, and this is a result of the nature of the internet protocols. Gixen places 20,000 (or so) of snipes every day, and I can pretty much guarantee that it will be late for at least 20. Or to put it differently - for every 250 auctions Gixen wins, one will be late. <br /> <br />It looks like a small probability that one particular snipe will be late, but this happens nevertheless. I could have just placed the bid myself and won.
