The reason it didn't bid was because my primary adress was set to Canada, but even though I had another adress for the USA, it did not place the bid since the item only shipped to the US. Wish I would have known this earlier because I lost another two bids for the same item which both sold for about $100. About 3 hours before the bid ended, I decided to change my bid amount. So I pressed the edit button, but then changed my mind and left the bid the same. Then I clicked on the button to save it and refreshed the page (this was done using the Safari browser). I left my computer in sleep mode with both Gixen and eBay still open. The next morning I checked the auction only to realize that somebody else won the item for $52.00. My bid did not even show up.
