My apologies, Mark. I used "Firefox Web browser" where I had Gixen in my "bookmarks". Lately, whenever I wanted to open Gixen, I was not able to do so, getting a message similar to: "the password stored on ebay does not match". Looking at my settings I could not find any problems, so I changed the web browser to Opera. That worked, I was able to open Gixen and ebay and do whatever I wanted to do. But I like Firefox, so I eventually managed to open Gixen Start page and then simply clicked on "Contact" and input my username and password again. Success on Firefox, However I need to do this everytime that I log onto Gixen, but that's not a problem. I can only surmise that some UPDATE has thrown a wobbly into FF, that maybe the case for other users as well. I hope that explains it. :D
Post subject: logon problems
Mario, that's possible. It's been a long time since I installed Gixen.
It's also possible that FF did something to my logon settings, I can't rule that our, nor can I rule out that ebay has done some additional "security" to protect their sellers.
As for me, I got Gixen working and doing what it's supposed to be doing, so I am happy.
I just thought I share my experiences with the community
Cheers
Frank

Frank,
Did you, by any chance, bookmark logged-in page instead of home page? That would cause the problem. The contact tab and login form is no different than any other on Gixen website.

Hello Frank,
No, I'm just a very long term user of Gixen.
I've also been contributing to this area of the site for many, many years, so I've seen all the issues that are posted about here. I have some insight into how Gixen works from my many years working in the IT industry implementing projects similar to Gixen... and from what Mario has told me.
You should be able to log into Gixen from two separate and different browsers at the same time, so the fact that you are not able to is an indication that there is some other issue... either with your accounts' interaction with Ebay via Gixen or with the Gixen software itself. It is more likely to be the former, but I wouldn't entirely rule out the latter.
The fact that you mention allowing the re-direct, which is usually the default anyway, indicates to me that there may be some involvement from a Firefox plugin that you have installed... Do you have any plugins enabled that might affect the function of Firefox in this way?.. Usually they would be the ones that claim to be able to enhance your security or remove unwanted advertising.

Post subject: Logon problems
Hi Mark,
I suspected a "block" being applied by ebay as well, but it could have been an update by FF.
In FF, I was not able to log onto Gixen, no matter which way I tried.
Only when I switched to Opera, did I get onto Gixen, by using the "Contact Tab" and input my user name and password. Once I was logged into Gixen, I could snipe on ebay.
I went back to FF which still tells me that my password does not match, but by clicking on "Contact" and input my username and password AND "allowing a re-direct" I am logged into Gixen.
BTW, I just switched browsers from Opera to FF and logon was OK in FF.
I also tried to logon with Opera and the Gixen logon screen tells me that my ebay passwords do NOT match. (Could be because I am logging into the same account from 2 different browsers?)
Now looking at this, ebay blocking Gixen seems likely. :( . I will now more when I shut down both browsers and restart Opera only.
Mark, do you work for Gixen? Just curious.
Frank

So, if I understand you correctly, logging in from the Gixen home page never works for you, using the Firefox browser, but always does using the Opera one?
However, if you first select the 'Contact' tab then you can log in from that page, even though the procedure for logging in from that page looks exactly the same as on the home page?
How about logging in from this 'Community' tab, or indeed any of the others, does that enable you to log in or not?
What did you have stored as your bookmark?... You can't expect to be able to bookmark the snipes page, that can only be accessed by logging in after the session has timed out, though it may work while the session remains open i.e. you don't ever select the 'Logout' button.
The most likely cause of joan richardson's problem is that Ebay are placing a block on the Gixen server logging into their Ebay account, most likely by putting up a Captcha screen during the log in process when their account is accessed from the Gixen IP address (but quite possibly not when they log in directly to Ebay from their own computer, that Ebay is used to them logging in from, and has the IP address associated with their account recognised by Ebay)... Unfortunately, changing the browser that you use or the specific tab that you log in from here isn't going to alleviate that issue. In that case they still need to contact Mario for instructions as to how to proceed to get the Ebay blockage removed.

I think it is quite likely that if I don't understand it, that there will be many others that don't either...
So, if you really wanted to help, it might be a nice idea to expand on your suggestion.

Not my fault, if you don't understand it.
As I said, it worked for me :D

I had the same problem, there are 2 solutions.
Option 1. In Gixen, click on contact and input your username for ebay and your ebay
password. You may have to do this every time (until a "save option" is installed)
Option 2. Change your web browser.
Worked for me.
I don't understand your first option, and I don't think your second is likely to make any difference for this particular issue.

Post subject: trying to fix password problem
I have tried, several times, to use Gixen and each time it says my password failed. I have used Gixen for a while but the password I'm tying in is the same as my e bay password so what do I do? Now they've put it on hold saying I tried too many times.
