Gixen never updates auction prices in real time... it was tried many years ago.. and is far too resource intensive.. you'd need much more powerful computers and therefore a much higher price being charged to do that. Updates are periodic, more frequent towards the end of the auction. You can use the Gixen Desktop Manager and tailor it to perform frequent updates, if you have a Windows based computer to run it on. That uses your own resources to fetch auction prices from Ebay. Personally, I find that the time is much better spent doing research as to what things are worth, and therefore knowing what amount I'm prepared to snipe at... that, to me, is the whole point of sniping; not worrying about what others are doing on any particular auction and hence potentially ending up paying too much. As an aside, on auctions listed by 'private' i.e. non business accounts, Ebay is reporting auction prices without the buyers premium included, which can cause some confusion... but given that Ebay themselves display (and handle) it differently, for the same auction, between .co.uk and .com, it's not really clear what Ebays' long term strategy even is on this, so it's not really worth Gixen sorting it out properly, at this stage. When you say 'Refresh' do you mean the button on the snipes page, which is designed to populate the page with the most up to date data held by the Gixen server, or the browser function which just resubmits the same page ? Worst case the browser function can end up causing multiple unwanted updates to snipes, so I'd advise NOT to use that on Gixen,
Thanks Mark,
That makes perfect sense now you point out the resource issues for Gixen to refresh current bidding price. I guess I had imagined that the Gixen app was getting the info, on request directly from my phone. Which I now realise makes no sense for a sniping tool, using server(s) in the cloud.
As for how you find the time better spent, I imagine you're 100% correct, but I'm new to this and it seems like quite a bit of a shift in 'attitude' to detach myself from the actual auction. Hopefully I'll get there.
And don't get me started on \"buyer protection fee\" - I had read some of the other forum posts where it was pointed out eBay are inconsistent but the maths didn't work out, which was why I checked the bid count, and that was adrift too. (I think with one of the settings in Gixen set to .co.uk Gixen is showing me the price with buyer protection included)
But I'm reassured that this is expected behaviour and even agree with the reasoning behind it - so that's all good.
Meanwhile, as a UK customer, on eBay I go from \"this is the auction\" to \"these were the bids\" and the former shows the price, plus bidder protection, and the latter, shows them without it. It's driving me nuts.
Alas the only windows PC I have access to is provided by my employer and is locked down so I can't install software on it.
Thanks again

Post subject: Bid amount, and no. of bids show significantly out of date
I'm (very) new to Gixen, so I'm still trying to work out if I'm just doing something wrong.
This means I'm /still/ flip/flopping back and forth between Gixen, and eBay.
I've noticed this on a few auctions that have been on my watchlist, and it's definitely present now for (267421618634), The 'current bid' displayed on Gixen (both app and website) is a bid behind that shown on eBay. At the time of writing the most recent bid on ebay was over an hour ago.
I did wonder if this was a \"buyers protection fee\" difference - because I'm in the uk. However I think I've got all the settings pointing to \".co.uk\" but in this case Gixen is also reporting that there's only been one bid, and there has been two.
I've hit refresh, (which on the website didn't even update the time to auction end, making me think it doesn't 'do' anything). Quit the app and reopened it.
The only thing I can think of is if there's a sync issue between the co.uk site and a different one Gixen is using to get the info from on eBay.
Is this a commonly observed issued ?
