Just revisiting this as I've just been playing with a Gixen account that doesn't have a subscription.
In that case I think you might be right.
I'm not certain that's the intention though.
So, when I said

What it does is retrieve the latest information about the snipe from the Gixen server, so if the auction(s) has/have completed you should get the new status for all snipes, and often a price update as the auction finished. You will also always see the 'Time To End' updated for auctions that are still running.
It does not change any details about any snipes and does not necessarily get Gixen to go back to Ebay for price updates while an auction is running. If you want that sort of service you should either monitor Ebay directly or, if you have access to a Windows based computer that you can run it on, use the Gixen Desktop Manager with suitable update settings. That uses your own resources to, more frequently, update auction prices.
That may only apply when there's a Mirror subscription that is active.
I do think that, when there is an active Mirror subscription, it may prompt Gixen to provide more updates from Ebay servers (though not every time you press the button), for the next few snipes that are due to complete.
I have no issue with that being another one of the extra benefits of having a subscription... but I would have thought, if you're going to display that button for those that don't have an active subscription, it should, at least cause the page to refresh with the information that is held by the Gixen server, and hence they should expect the time till the end of the auctions to update.
However, in the absence of that functionality, my recommendation would be to select the 'Mirror' tab (which just shows the subscription options when you don't have a subscription) and then reselect the 'Main' tab. That does seem to result in the kind of refresh that I think should be standard for the button with that name.

Sorry for the late response... your linked eBay account is a US account. US eBay account with an UK shipping address can still be declined by eBay.

It also does not redo the last action that you took, which, if it was to Edit a snipe might cause issues at the end of an auction. That is why the browser function is not recommended for use on the MySnipes page.

Hopefully that wasn't a significant factor in this failure, and just useful information going forward.
Thank you, will remember this!

If you'd still like Mario to look behind the scenes, at the logs, for the exact circumstances with this auction he can be contacted directly via the support email address on the
Contact page
.
As I say, it is possible for Gixen to misinterpret the response from Ebay, and that could be because Ebay update the details of such responses, or add new ones that have not been processed by Gixen before.

Is this an Ebay account you've used successfully for buying for a long time ? Yes.
Have you used it successfully with Gixen before? Yes.
Do you mean using the browsers refresh button, Yes.
because that not recommended, what that actually means is 'resubmit the last page I visited', and that can result in duplicate updates, which you don't want, especially as an auction is about to complete.
The recommended method of getting Gixen status updates, and the Gixen servers last update of the price, is to use the 'REFRESH' button that is displayed on the MySnipes page.

No one is going to disbelieve you here, so no need for images, in any case anyone can get to the Ebay bids page from knowing the auction id.
You ask, what happened ?... Well, I can say that in order to get to that status Gixen must have tried to place the bid, it might have misinterpreted the response though, that has happened before... Mario can take a look at the bidding logs on the Gixen servers to see if there's a longer/more detailed or even different message that was generated from trying to place the bid... but what we can say for sure is that for some reason Ebay rejected your bid.
Is this an Ebay account you've used successfully for buying for a long time ? Have you used it successfully with Gixen before, or was this your first attempt ?
Perhaps a bit more context might help to track down precisely why Ebay rejected this particular bid.
As, perhaps an aside, you say:

I can provide screen-scrapes of the Gixen Status Page and of the eBay Bidding History page.
Gixen Status Page did not update current bid price or time remaining fields during the auction. I had to do a manual refresh of the Firefox browser page.
