Can you please provide me with the item id? I will check if eBay provided more information on the restriction. Sometimes they do, sometimes they don't.

You could, and would have found the same result, since this is a restriction imposed by the seller.
However, if you had placed it a day or so before, you may have had the time to liaise with the seller and perhaps reached an agreement that they might remove whatever restriction it was, in your case. That certainly is an issue with sniping, whether manual or automated.
There are many different restrictions, including your level of feedback, where you are located, since not all sellers are happy to ship everywhere, how many non paying bidder strikes you have, whether you have a payment method registered with Ebay, etc. etc etc. So, what you can do about them very much depends on precisely which one it was that this seller chose to impose that you did not meet.
Going forward, if it were me, I'd ask the seller what restrictions they had in place, and see if I can do anything to mitigate such a restriction in the future.

What leads you to that conclusion?... This one snipe and the response that Ebay generated as a result ?

Post subject: You are not eligible to bid on this item due to seller Stat
I am new to sniping. I just bought gixen’s mirror service to see how it works. I put in a fairly large bid $250+, and in the end the item sold for $21.50. The reason Gixen gave was:
You are not eligible to bid on this item due to seller
Status (main): restrictions.
I didn’t get an email even stating that my max bid was submitted. I have never purchased from this seller nor could they block me if Gixen entered in my bid at the last second.
At this point it seems this service doesn’t work. I am pretty upset that I honestly could have just submitted a real bid on eBay. Paying for a service that doesn’t work and no customer service.
