It's always best to transcribe error messages here exactly as they are presented on the page, because often the precise details of the message are an indication as to what the issue really is.
So, now you are saying that you did eventually manage to schedule a snipe for this auction ?
If so, the reason that you did not win will be contained in the status field of that snipe, after the auction completed. That, the details of the amount you had set as your maximum and the bidding history on Ebay allows you to decipher exactly what happened at the end of the auction.

I am able to schedule a snipe for that auction.
Did the error actually have '<item name>' in it or is that an edit you made ?
In my experience that error message exactly replicates whet you've typed in the 'eBay Item Number:' field.
How did you format the snipe amount, in the 'Your bid:' field ?
Sometimes an invalid format, like having currency symbols can cause issues like this.
That was an edit. However, the auction ended for less than my Max Bid. Can you help me understand how I could have lost the Snipe?
Thank you

Post subject: \"Could not Add This Item <item name>\" yet
I get this error: \"Could not Add This Item <item name>\" yet item is active.
I have verified that the item has not been removed. It would allow me to bid directly on ebay.
What can I do so that I can Snipe this item 406215744184
