Yes, Gixen just bids your maximum bid. However, by the rules of eBay auctions, the current and/or winning bid is determined by the
second-highest
bid. Thus, there is no good reason to bid less than your maximum bid.
You might find it helpful to review eBay's help pages on bidding:

Gixen will submit your maximum bid in the same manner you would do yourself manually. However eBay proxy bidding will make sure you pay only the amount needed to win.

Post subject: gixen and bidding
I was wondering that if in gixen, it will only bid your maximum bid. So say if the current bid was 120.00, and I put 150.00 as the max, would it just bid my 150? Would it skip the in between bids and just bid my max? Thanks. I dont want to have to pay more if the current bid is less than my max one.....
