Yes it is also worth noting this history for the account that retracted the bid:
30-Day Summary
Total bids: 28
Items bid on: 18
Bid activity (%) with this seller: 85% Help
Bid retractions: 9
Bid retractions (6 months): 14

Thank you very much John. I did not know we can check retracted bids. I looked into the shill bidder account, and he/she has 14 retracted bids in the last 6 months, and 86% of the bids are with this seller. So, it is very shady indeed. I shall report to ebay. Thanks for your help!

You (and the seller) were a victim of bid shielding.
At the bottom of the
bidding history
, you'll see the following:
Code:
p***l(3)
Retracted:GBP 199.00
Bid:9 Apr 2019 at 11:32:02AM PDT
Retracted:9 Apr 2019 at 11:38:34AM PDT
Since n***r(11) placed their bid at 11:31:53AM PDT, it's clear that p***l(3) placed their bid right afterward in order to block late bids.
You should contact eBay customer support and report this.

Post subject: Bid under asking price, but my max bid is way higher
I placed a snipe on gixen for Ebay item 303116710375. My max bid is ÂGBP 105, and it says bid under asking price. But the item was sold for ÂGBP 52. And I did not see my bid on the listing at all. Anyone can tell what went wrong? I did not place a bid manually, only the snipe. A bit disappointed to lose that item!
