The high bidder is now no longer registered. I suspect that it was an auction wrecking, perhaps the bidder had one of their own for sale at that time, or had a grudge against the seller for some other reason.

Everything Mario said is correct, but it's strange that the high bidder bid after the bidder who retracted. Why would someone retract a bid after being outbid? Unless, it's a case of bid shielding...

True, that is strange. There was still around 45 minutes left between retraction and auction end, so it does not look like bid shielding.

Yes, there was a retracted bid of 222, you can see it in the bid history. Even though it was retracted, it was not a high bid at the moment, so the current price jumped to 222 + bid increment.

Item 140367848166

At 9.51 AM Pacific time, Gixen shows me current price = 224.50 USD whereas it is only $61 on ebay at this time.

Could it be because bids were that high before and the seller cancelled those bids...?
