Thanks so much for looking into it, and for your remarks. At least I know I didn't screw up!

Oh, and thanks for the great product / service.

I think there is a defect in Ebays procedures, that they allow a bidder to make and retract bids of the same amount in quick succession at the end of the auction.

As Mario says this causes bids from others, that were willing to offer more than was eventually paid, to be rejected by Ebay... and since only the eventual winner of the item benefits from the activity I think there is a case for asking ebay themselves to investigate and justify why they have allowed it to happen.

This listing had 4 large retracted bids of 1,000 (see bid history). This caused your snipe not to be accepted by ebay.

If I were a seller, I would re-list the item, as in this case the winning bidder greatly benefited from these retracted bids.

The auction was

400477175011

the winning bid was roughly $140 and I authorized $167 -- the error "message" (why did I lose this auction) directed me to the french ebay page on bid increments.

Thanks VERY much for considering this issue.

1candleprojects,

This issue has long ended. What is the item id? Note that you can lose an auction with a slightly higher bid than winning due to ebay bid increments.

1candleprojects,

In order to have it looked at you would need to provide the auction number.

Also what was the status the Gixen gave that snipe after the auction had finished?

Hi -- are these core server problems continuing? I lost an auction when my authorised bid was above the winning one.

Don't get me wrong: Gixen has been fabulous for me in the past -- the few times I've used it! I'm just trying to figure out if I did something wrong (this bid was part of a grouped bid - is that the issue?). I really liked the item, and would hope not to "lose one" again.

Thanks for your time, and for a great program.

Hey Mario.... perhaps in your "spare time", you could help American Airlines get their system up and running faster next time it fails ??

My mirror membership does not expire until 2034 which is my estimated date of death. Even paying that amount it is a tremendous bargin. I could not be happier at that pre-paid price. Gixen gave me my free time and sleep back. Thanks Mario.

CoreNetworks is still having an issue with their DNS.

I just implemented some workaround solution that bypasses their DNS. It seems to be working.

Gixen does a fantastic job and the cost of the Mirror server is miniscule.

Computer systems have glitches so a good time to support Gixen with a donation -- or by purchasing the mirror service, which is is beyond a bargain.

thank you

The issue was confirmed by CoreNetworks. It seems to be resolved now. My apologies to affected users.

Mario,

We had a major network hiccup last night. If we are hosting DNS for any
of your domains, it is very likely that service was unavailable.

Our engineering team is still going over everything. Once I have a
full reason for outage, I can get that forwarded to you.
