Sniping is handy because you don't need to be watching the auctions. But if you are watching then just bid yourself...
Then you know for sure it works.

Please note from the FAQ page:

Quote:
Note that all edits, deletes and new entries should be completed at least 2 minutes before auction end. In case of late edits, Gixen will make every effort to 1) cancel the edited snipe if already in progress, and 2) execute the updated snipe, but neither is guaranteed to succeed. It is, however, more likely that late delete / cancel will be successful than late addition, so in most cases late edit will result in cancelation only.

Just upgraded to the mirror service last week so thought that would protect against any fails. I dont think its ebay blocking me since my acct shows no problems, no notice from them This is extremely unfortunate since i was of course doing the biggest bid of the year, and likely would have won since i had outbid the winning bid substantially.

My question: I know that any edits you make the last couple minutes might not make it in time, but can they somehow jeopardize the original bid? I placed my bid thru gixen days ago, then in the last minute, i edited it to go higher. Next thing i know im watching the auction screaming out why it ended so far beneath either my orginal or edited bid, and realized gixen had failed to submit. I couldnt imagine that editing could jeopardize your *original* bid since i looked carefully, and it was never posted anywhere as a warning. Only that our edits might not be reflected.

This is very unfortunate and really makes me doubt whether gixen could ever be reliable enough for me since these types of failures are significant.

Any thoughts appreciated.
