This was a bug, it's fixed now, my apology. You have to edit item to display proper currency.

cso,

I agree Gixen is displaying the wrong currency for this one (My settings point to ebay.co.uk, but I get the same result as you).

It won't affect the sniping operation though, Gixen will still bid the amount you specified as your snipe, in Euros. The value displayed by Gixen is for your benefit only, it has no influence on the sniping software.

Hi, my settings are pointing to eBay.de, item number
182756765314
Is listed in Germany. Current highest bid is shown in GBP instead of EUR, but showing the same value, is to say it shows 40 pounds instead of 40 Euros. Logged on and off, cancelled bid, re-inserted bid, no way, still the same. My main concern is that bid might be rejected for what ever reason by eBay. I am a mirror user.
Regards!

This should be fixed now. All major currencies should be displayed now after adding items. For existing items edit may be required to update them (not critical).

There is definitely an issue, I am looking into this. It's not critical, however, please give me a few days.

Here's an auction where the currency is EUR and is displayed as blank when entered in Gixen: 232479268430

I'm not sure what you guys mean by "blank" in this context here as I'm only seeing auctions being done in USD and those are all displaying just fine. What I'm wondering though is how much of this is a browse/browser settings issue more than anything else. Unicode is all very well and good, but it isn't necessarily all characters in all browsers either.

Yes, Mark, I knew I'd be in the minority. :)

I also agree that having the correct currency displayed is a helpful feature.

Mario, I hope the fix is easy. It would seem like all that should be required is to read that information from the appropriate field in the eBay auction, but it wouldn't surprise me if there are complications. Things are rarely as simple as they should be.

I've sent you a couple of examples Mario.

If anyone is willing, or would like to, post more examples here, that would be helpful, I'm sure it applies to a number of different currencies, and the fix may be slightly different for each.

The currency should always be shown, I agree with that. Mark, can you please email me an example of item id when it's not shown?

These are fair points John,

I must admit I hadn't noticed the blank currencies until I was prompted to look as a result of this thread being started.

I guess people are used to having this indication now though, so it might be unpopular to withdraw a feature, at this stage.

Hopefully a fix is not too difficult, but if it is I do tend to think it is better not to have a feature than to have one that doesn't work properly, that does get annoying after a while.

I would be perfectly happy if Gixen didn't list the currency at all, but I suspect I'm in the minority. It seems to me that if one looked at an eBay auction long enough to decide to bid on it, then the currency would be well known.

If it were me, I'd provide users with a drop-down list of currencies to choose from so that they could enter that information for themselves if they wished.

John is correct.

However, I do also have to agree that it is not consistently being displayed any more.

I have two blank at present, one Ebay shows a GBP and another Ebay shows as AU $.

Gixen does not set the currency; eBay does that. The currency shown in Gixen's [Current] column is the currency that Gixen reads from the eBay auction.

I'm in the UK.
I mainly buy in GBP but often in US$, occasionally other currencies.
Gixen's current column sometimes shows "GBP" (when appropriate) but not always.
I don't think US$ or C$ are ever stated in current.
I would prefer my default of GBP to be blank
and any other currency to be shown.

Thanks for a very useful product.
