Missing access token

I was unable to place my bid and got the message “Missing access token” after the auction ended. (eBay #266393725880).
I am unsure what this message means and would like to understand what I did wrong. Any help appreciated. Thanks.

Your ebay authorization has expired.

eBay requires that you renew the authorization every 18 months or whenever you change your ebay password or username. This is free of charge. I checked and the eBay authorization had not expired, but I renewed it anyway. Could there be any other explanation? Thanks.
