I would like to get an invoice for my records. I do not see how to get one and I did not get an email with one.

You specifically need an invoice, before payment ?
So a receipt. after payment. is no use for your records ?

Receipts are issued by Paypal when a payment is made, if you're not receiving them in your email you need to contact Paypal to find out why.
