For item 17027353881, I bid 7.04 pounds and the winning bid was 6.55, made six seconds before closing. When was my bid placed?

mbkleber,

It's not enough that your bid is higher, it has to be higher for a certain increment. Please see http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/buy/bid-increments.html and you will understand.

Your bid obviously came after the winning bid, possibly a fraction of a second after. This is why my personal favourite bid offset is 8 seconds.
