Obviously you are not the only one who sniped this item. There was nothing you could do - in fact you had a slight advantage (bid increment) in getting there first. |

Absolutely not - in fact the earlier bid has an advantage (as bid increment rule is on your side). What people often initially fail to understand is that sniping protects you from bidders who change their mind and want to increase their bid. It does *not* help you against other snipers, quite the opposite - whoever is first has an advantage. This is why my favourite snipe time is 8 seconds before auction end.
If the things were the other way around, e.g. this bidder's bid came in first, your bid would not even be accepted by ebay. |
