Hi
I placed a snipe for a cmera lens, which I subsequently decided not to bid on. I deleted the snipe from Gixen about a week before the auction was due to end.

Just had an email from eBay saying my bid of GBP 70 was unsuccessful! Just as well really, as I cancelled it!

What happened? Unfortunately, I've deleted the email from eBay, so can't recover the item number. I've looked in my eBay account and it doesn't show at all that I've lost an auction, the only indication was the email (no eBay history?).

I had a similar problem as deep blue2.
I created a snipe to bid on item 330627504893. I later decided not to go ahead with the bid and deleted the snipe, but after auction end I get email that I won an auction. What happened?
I selected the ticked the checkbox and pressed on delete. After the snipe entry was gone from the page. Is there more to deleting a snipe.

thanks.

How long before the end of the auction did you delete the snipe?

It was never deleted, and I see no delete action in the logs.

I did delete it, or so I thought. I selected the snipe entry and clicked on delete (as I mentioned in my previous post). The item did disappear from the snipe list. I just didn't press on refresh or anything to see if the page needed to be refreshed. Like I said in my previous post, I just wanted to know what the procedure is if what I did do was not right. I now have to deal with an angry seller who is determined for me to purchase his item. Will see how it turns out.

It does not sound like your expectations of how it works are wrong.

Mario has found that the item was not deleted.

Without further evidence that there is some issue with the process of deleting snipes here this is going to be impossible to investigate further.

We need other reports of failed deletions to increase confidence that something is wrong with that process otherwise the time investigating this occurrence is likely to be wasted.

Yours seems to be the only report of an issue recently and the deletion process is, I'm sure, used a lot, I use it myself frequently, I have not noticed any issues of late.

It's true, it's the first time I hear something like this. I am not saying it didn't happen, there is always a possibility of a rare bug, but I need to be able to replicate the problem.

Yes you said it far more succinctly than I.

If anyone else has an issue with the delete function please try to explain in as much detail as you can what you did and the unexpected result.

I have tried to replicate this issue but have not been able to do so.

Hello Guys:

Well, what can be said. I would love to test this out for you, and have you troubleshoot but sadly I am not that brave. I don't doubt that you don't see it in the logs, but it did happen as I mentioned (in my mind anyway, now you have me doubting myself) and obviously it is not the first time this has happened since the previous post also had the same exact experience, all be it different results. As to the question posed in regard to how long before auction end, it was quit a bit before, something like 3 to 4 days before.

I hope you find that pesky bug.

The first instance was not quite the same since they can not find any indication on their eBay account that the bid was placed.
