why did my snipe fail

Hello. Pls check auction ID 190590080999. Why did my snipe fail please? I am the two bids for $7.00 with FB of 703. Was won by another with bid of $7.50, which was my max bid ..... they bid earlier with the $7.50 so why didn't it show earlier? Not upset just want to understand what happened. Gixen is brilliant - thank you for inventing it.

eBay does not display the maximum bid until it is beaten by a higher bid, the winning bid will have shown as AUD 6.00 before your bid was placed but it may have been much higher than AUD 7.50 that eventually won.

It looks like the amount that you entered here for your maximum bid was 7 not 7.50 since that is the amount bid.

If 7.50 was your maximum you should really have entered it as your snipe value... it would not have won as we now know that the other bidder had already placed a bid of at least that, but it may have meant that they paid another increment more for it.

If they bid $7.50 first, then they would get it, if that was your maximum bid and it came later. The fact is the winner was not out bid.

The reason it did not show earlier is the same reason that the winners maximum bid does not show now. If you want to know what the winners maximum bid really was, you would have had to pay to see it.
