can anyone explain the difference between WON and ENDED
in 'History'
It is attached to items I have won, apparently at random.

The only thing I can think is perhaps it's related to which server actually placed the bid that won the auction for you ?

Other than that, do you tend to edit the snipe amount very often on your snipes?.. personally, I only ever delete snipes once my bid would not be placed because the auction price has gone too high for me to be interested any more.

Mark, no I don't edit anything, I just set a price
and forget it until ebay tells me to pay, (or not).
