Hello,
Ebay item id # 177366045012.
I had the winning bid amount for this item, but I did not win the auction. Instead, I received the following message: \"You are not eligible to bid on this item due to seller restrictions.\"
Please explain what seller restrictions precluded me from winning this auction. The only restriction I am aware of would be shipping, and this seller ships to the US.
I would appreciate the message to actually state what restrictions apply to me and my bid that made me ineligible to bid. |

Unfortunately eBay does not provide that information to Gixen. All that is provided back is \"You are not eligible to bid on this item due to seller restrictions.\" |

In these circumstances, if you're likely to want to bid on this sellers auctions in the future, or you really want to know what restrictions there are, that can prevent you from bidding it's usually best to work it out with the seller directly.
They have an bit of an incentive to work with you since it is them that has also lost out in not having achieved the price they otherwise would have done.
There are a number of different ways that sellers can choose to block bids, from personal blocklists of buyers they believe to be difficult, to blocking shipping to certain locations, to blocks on any buyer with a small number of items that they've purchased but for some reason haven't ended up paying for, and even to not having secure payment options available that are directly linked to the Ebay account, or not having enough history of buying via that account (especially when the bid amount is high).
In some instances (not in this case, and not with exactly this message) Ebay themselves can impose blocks, in certain jurisdictions, on certain categories of items, because there are local laws that with which they have to comply. _________________ Mark |
